A decade after the debut of Infusion, the park was in the market for a new roller coaster. After reviewing a number of options, it was decided to once again collaborate with Mack Rides who had introduced their LSM roller coaster concept at their own Europa Park in 2009.
Built on the former Tom Sawyer lake (that had previously been home to the Tom Sawyer Raft Ride, Swamp Buggies and Spin Doctor), the ride features two LSM launches, two inversions and several close interactions with the Big One, Big Dipper, Steeplechase and Pleasure Beach Express along an extremely twisted course.

For the 2022 season, the rear car on Icon's second train was transformed to include a spinning seat. The upgraded experience is known as Enso, an important symbol in Japanese Zen.
The aesthetics of the ride received close attention, with a custom soundtrack, beautiful trains and several themed sculptures.
For the 2022 season, one of the ride’s trains was upgraded to include the ‘Enso’ experience, allowing riders to experience Icon in a spinning seat – completely changing the dynamics of the ride.
